Thomas Mueller won the Golden Boot 2010.

Congratulation to German midfielder Thomas Mueller won the Golden Boot award for top scorer at the World Cup and was also named best young player of the tournament.

Mueller was one of four players to finish on five goals, but won by virtue of his three assists, two more than his nearest rivals -- Spain's David Villa and Wesley Sneijder of the Netherlands, who each had one helper.
Mueller, 20, has spearheaded a new generation of players that include Mesut Oezil, Sami Khedira, Jerome Boateng and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in a German team that finished third.

The Bayern Munich ace, who 12 months ago was playing in the German third division, succeeded compatriot Miroslav Klose, who topped the scoring at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
FORLAN TOP PLAYER Uruguay striker Diego Forlan was awarded the Golden Ball as the best player of the World Cup. Atletico Madrid striker Forlan grabbed five goals as his country finished in fourth place after losing Saturday's third-place playoff 3-2 to Germany.

He polled 23.4 per cent of the votes awarded by media covering the tournament with Wesley Sneijder of runners-up Netherlands at 21.8, and David Villa of champion Spain at 16.9.

CASILLAS BEST IN GOAL

Spain's Iker Casillas was voted the tournament's best goalkeeper.
Casillas, who twice crucially denied Arjen Robben of the Netherlands in the final with the score at 0-0, gets FIFA's Golden Glove award after conceding just two goals in seven matches.

The Real Madrid star, who is Spain's captain, also saved a penalty in a 1-0 quarter-final win over Paraguay.
