Ahead of kick-off, four of Arsenal’s last five Premier League (PL) home games have seen them lose one half by a one-goal margin. Encouragingly though, they have recovered four points from a possible six after going into the interval one goal behind in their last two home league games.
As a result of this tendency to surge in the second half, the period after the break accounts for six of Arsenal’s seven-point home tally so far this season. The ‘Gunners’ have also scored the last goal in each of their PL home matches this term.
Echoing the fact that all of Arsenal’s PL home games this term have seen both teams score, all seven of Bournemouth’s PL games to date also bear that characteristic. The ‘Cherries’ have opened the scoring in a majority (four) of those fixtures and consistently avoided defeat after doing so (W3, D1).
For the benefit of optimistic traveling fans, Bournemouth has won the first half by a 2-0 scoreline in both of their away wins this term. However, H2H history shows that a repeat here is unlikely, with the Dorset outfit losing by a multi-goal margin in one half in each of their last three league visits here.
Players to watch: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalized for Arsenal in last Monday’s clash with Manchester United. Across all competitions, his last three goals have been the final ones of their respective matches.
Callum Wilson has now scored in Bournemouth’s last four PL games, averaging 1.25 goals per-match in that sequence. His last three strikes have come in the second half.
Stat attack: Arsenal has scored at least once beyond the hour mark in each of their PL home matches so far.
Since the start of 2018/19, Bournemouth has registered a PL record of W5, D1, L11 as an away outsider.
Bournemouth’s last three PL games have each produced exactly four-match goals and seen them evenly distributed across all halves
